WHY Consider Uptic Training

Becoming trauma-informed is not just about learning about trauma and creating a checklist of things to do. Being trauma-informed is a shift in how we see and understand behavior. It is a shift in how we respond to others. It is a shift in how we see ourselves.

Kendra has experience leading professional development and workshops for educators, foster/adoptive families, parents, residential/direct care staff, and churches. Kendra strives to help organizations move beyond being trauma-informed into truly integrating trauma-informed practices and creating healing systems. Kendra’s unique experiences working in residential foster care and the school system provide her with first-hand experience implementing trauma-informed strategies, creating system change, and the challenges and struggles that come along the way.

Trauma Consultation

Consultation is different from counseling in that it is more goal-directed. Consultation is program-specific and provides ongoing implementation support. Consultation services are provided to school districts, foster/adoptive families, and agencies that seek to create environments that promote healing and resilience. Dr. Kendra McLaughlin, PhD, LPC-S, will use her experiences to offer you hope, encouragement, and guidance in creating a healing environment.

Through consultation meetings, you will establish specific goals and an individualized plan for your family, school, or organization. Kendra will provide additional education, strategies, support, and feedback to help you create a healing environment for children and youth. You will be provided a safe space to discuss the successes and challenges of implementing a trauma-informed system. Follow-up consultation sessions will focus on the effectiveness of strategies previously discussed and identifying areas to restructure or refocus going forward.

Kendra is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention Practitioner (TBRI) and Educator. TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention with years of research backing the strategies. The interventions are designed to meet the complex needs of children who have experienced trauma and adversity. Kendra has experience implementing TBRI strategies in residential foster care, foster/adoptive homes, and the school setting. Let Kendra know if you are specifically interested in consultation from a TBRI lens.
